Rating: pg-13
Pairing: Kade/Stella (sort of)
Summary: Kade's Highschool graduation party. Sometimes your friend is just your friend. No matter how drunk you are.
Distribution: http://penned-insanity.freaky.nu/ (My site) or ask.
Author's Note: Half a year before Kade arrives at SECA. Miss Faye had asked for something nostalgic. This is what came. Also, Kade bears an uncanny resemblance to Claire Danes. ;-)

Okay, the room is definitely spinning.
Or is that me?
...
Nope, it has to be the room, because I'm in this chair with Stella, and we're mushed so close together that I couldn't possibly spin, even if I wanted to.
Maybe I shouldn't have had that last drink. Oh well. It's not like we graduate every day.
I'm just glad David's parents are out of town. Again. And clueless. I mean really, who tells their kid to invite some friends over to have a graduation party and then go out of town? Stupid people. Not that I mind, really. Although I might mind tomorrow when I have to help clean up with a hangover...
"Take this."
I blink as yet another glass of something appears in front of my face.
"No, Stella, I really can't. I shouldn't have even had that last one. Anymore and I'll end up puking in David's mom's ficus tree." She laughs at me and I have to laugh too. Of course after a few seconds, we just laughing for the sake of laughing. Yes, we're very drunk.
"Anyway, it's not
for you. It's for David, but he had to go take a piss. And if
I hold it, it's going to end up
on us. So here, take this." I manage to stop laughing and take the glass from her.
And she's right. She almost spills the whole thing on us both as she's handing it over to me. I manage to rescue it with only a drop or two missing and rest it on the arm of the chair. We sit there talking about nothing until I feel someone lifting the drink out of my hand. I look up to see David smiling down at us both and taking a sip of the drink that's now in his hand.
"Ladies." He nods at us and walks across the room, talking to people along the way. Stella rests her head on my shoulder and I can tell that she's watching him. I grin and wonder if either one of them are ever going to realize that they like each other.
"So where's Jeremy?" I hear Stella say close to my ear. I rest my head against hers and sigh.
"California. He and his parents left right after graduation. Gone for the summer." I laugh. "The great romance is over." Stella giggles into my hair.
"Juliet you are not, Kade." I giggle with her, both of us leaning against each other.
"No, but he wasn't exactly Romeo, either. Nice to look at, nice to mess around with, but not too bright." This is incredibly funny, and we're gone again, giggling at each other. It takes us a long time to stop, and when we finally do, we just sit watching the rest of the senior class party around us.
"Hey Kade?" I don't even move when she says my name.
"Mmm?"
"I love you, you know."
"I know. Love you too, Stella."
"Hey Kade?"
"Mmm?" This time I look down at her and find her looking back up at me. She grins that crazy gap-toothed grin of hers, leans up, and presses her mouth to mine.
It takes me a second to realize that she's kissing me, and another second to realize that I'm kissing her back. I can hear some of the people around us cheering, mostly guys, which isn't any surprise. I hear David laughing.
It's not long, and we both pull back at the same time. She grins again and I smile back.
"That was... nice."
"Mmhmm."
We look at each other seriously, but start giggling again when we realize how ridiculous this situation is.
"I'm sorry, Stella, I love you, but you kiss like a girl!"
She giggles and manages to gasp out something that sounds like "you too." We both have to fight for breath between our laughter. Eventually we calm down, but it takes forever for us to be even a little bit serious.
"Well now we know though."
"Very true."
"Happy Graduation, Stella."
"Happy Graduation, whore."
I laugh. "Skank."
"Shut up and hand me those chips, would you?"
"Only if you don't kiss me again."
She grins. "Not a chance."
We both laugh at each other and eat chips out of the same bowl until we fall asleep in the chair.
